Sláine's adventures are based upon many of the popular Celtic myths and stories. Sláine was created by writer Pat Mills, his wife Angie Mills and artist Mike McMahon. The three-volume epic Sláine: The Horned God is generally regarded as the strip's high point, and was painted by the popular artist Simon Bisley, launching his long career.
There is also a role playing game setting based on the comic book series.
Sláine's warp spasm turns him into a super-powerful warrior and mirrors the rage and combat fury inherent in the historic berserker warriors.
The artist Clint Langley is responsible for some of the finest Sláine artwork ever produced.
