Sint-Lievens-Houtem is an amalgamated municipality located in the Belgian province of East Flanders. The town comprises the former municipalities of Bavegem , Letterhoutem , Sint-Lievens-Houtem proper, Vlierzele , and Zonnegem , and the hamlets of Espenhoek, Cotthem, and Hoogveld, formerly parts of Oombergen . On 1 July 2004 Sint-Lievens-Houtem had a total population of 9,234 (4,507 males and 4,727 females). The total area is 26.66 km˛ which gives a population density of 346.36 inhabitants per km˛.
