The São Paulo State Symphony, or Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo (OSESP), is one of the leading symphonic orchestras in Brasil. It was founded in 1954 by Souza Lima,

and it was directed by Eleazar de Carvalho for 24 years until 1996. In the following year, it was completely restructured under the leadership of John Neschling .

Sala São Paulo

In 1999, Sala São Paulo opened as a concert hall and the new home of OSESP. It ocuppies buildings of the imposing Estação Júlio Prestes , and it can accomodate 1509 spectators.
