2 Plot Summary

Originally GokuSon Goku ( Son Goku is the main character of the Dragon Ball/ Dragon Ball Z manga and the anime series Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT. Goku's first appearance was in issue #1 of the series. Note that in the English dub of the anime, Goku's was sent to Earth as a baby in order for him to grow up and destroy it. However, when Goku was a child he hit his head on something and became good. Years later when Goku had grown up, his brother Raditz arrived on Earth, wondering why Goku had not yet destroyed it. When Raditz confronts Goku, he tells Goku that he is a Saiyan from the Planet Vegeta. He then attempts to convince Goku to join him in destroying the Earth. When Goku refuses, Raditz kidnaps Son Gohan, in order to bribe Goku into cooperation.

Goku and Piccolo then band together to face their new common enemy, Raditz. Their power was not enough to defeat the Saiyan however, and it took the rage of the young Gohan to inflict any damage at all. After Gohan had cracked Raditz's armour, Goku held Raditz in a death lock, allowing Piccolo to fire his Demon Ray (aka Special Beam Cannon) through both Raditz and Goku, killing them both.

The story continues as the now-dead Goku trains in Hell with the Lord of Worlds, North Kaiô (King Kai), after clearing Snake Way . Meanwhile, Piccolo is training Gohan on earth by making him survive the harshness of the wild.

Finally, the two Saiyans come. The first is a big, bald, and muscular man named Nappa. The second is a short but powerful man with named Vegeta. The battle quickly ensues. First to come out are the Saibamen and one of them kills Yamcha by self-destructing. Kuririn gets really mad and destroys all the Saibamen, although he is unable to harm either Nappa or Vegeta. At that point, Nappa takes the offensive and kills both Tenshinhan and (indirectly) Chaozu. When Nappa is about to kill Gohan, Piccolo jumps right in and takes the blast, sacrificing himself.

When Son Goku finally arrives, easily defeats Nappa. In spite for Nappa's weakness, Vegeta kills him even as Goku spares his life. Vegeta and Goku fight evenly matched until Vegeta transforms into his Oozaru form and he once again takes the advantage. Fortunately Yajirobe (in his last useful act in the series) manages to cut off Vegeta's tail and he is forced to revert to normal. The fight continues and is finally brought to a conclusion when Son Gohan also manages to go Oozaru and use his transformed strength to defeat Vegeta.

Vegeta is allowed to escape in a pod back into outer space as the remaining Z Fighters struggle to deal with the deaths of so many friends. As Kami (Dragon Ball) also dies when Piccolo dies, there are no remaining Dragonballs on Earth with which to wish to them back.
