Sports in Richmond include soccer, softball, curling, hockey, and euchre, among others. The Ottawa Carleton Catholic School Board offers an Elementary school named St. Philip and a Secondary school in the neighbouring town of Sttitsville. The public board offers an elementary school and a high school. The middle school is in the neighbouring town.
The town mascot is a fox, after the fox with rabies who bit the Duke of Richmond and killed him. The town was the first established outpost in the area when the English moved into the area. The town of Richmond has many historical buildings such as St. Philip's Church which is the oldest church in the Archdiocese of Ottawa.
