Richard Meltzer was one of the first rock music critics. He is famous as the author of The Aesthetics of Rock.

Meltzer started his career writing for Crawdaddy! magazine (1967).

He wrote some of the original lyrics for Blue Öyster Cult.

He is a regular columnist for Addicted to Noise .
