Home > Resource Description Framework

Resource Description Framework (RDF) is the specification for a metadata model (often implemented as an application of XML) that is maintained by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). Work on RDF was initiated by Ramanathan V. Guha while at Apple Computer (as MCF) and continued while at Netscape Communications Corporation. This model is based upon the idea of making statements about resources in the form of a subject-predicate-object expression (in RDF terms, called a triple). The subject is essentially the resource, the "thing", being described. The predicateIn mathematics, a predicate is a relation. In grammar a predicate is a part of a sentence. More particularly, the predicate is further information about the subject what the subject is doing, what the subject is like, etc. It's really that part of the sen is what traitIn biology, a trait or character is a genetically inherited feature of an organism. The alleles for a "monogenetic" trait occupy the same locus on homologous chromosomes. If the alleles for a trait in a diploid organism are different, the trait of the "do or aspectAspect can mean one of the following things: In computer programming, an aspect is a feature that is linked to many parts of a program, but which is not necessarily the primary function of the program. In linguistics, aspect is a grammatical feature havin about that resource that is being described. And the objectEtymology: The word object comes from the latin word objectum a noun form of objectus which in turn comes from objicere which means to throw or put something before someone. Objicere comes from ob "in front of" (related to the Greek epi and jacere "throw" is what the valueValue is a term that expresses the concept of worth in general, and it is thought to be connected to reasons for certain practices, policies or actions. The Science of Value is an enterprise which embeds value into a scientific context). The concept can b of that trait is. RDF in conjunction with other tools adds meaning to the content of webpages, with these tools together being a part of the semantic web project.

The terminology is taken from logicIn ordinary language, logic is the reasoning used to reach a conclusion from a set of assumptions. More formally, logic is the study of inference—the process whereby new assertions are produced from already established ones. As such, of particular concern and linguisticsBroadly conceived, linguistics is the study of human language, and a linguist is someone who engages in this study. The study of linguistics can be thought of along three major axes, the endpoints of which are described below: Synchronic and diachronic Sy where subject-predicate or subject-predicate-object structures have very similar but definitely distinct meanings. For RDF, there is again a similar but distinct meaning that might be best described by example.
