Home > Radioactive decay path
A radioactive decay path is the path of transformation, called transmutation, a radioactive substance takes as it emits paticles from its atomic nuclei. A path only forms in the case of alpha or beta radiation, since actual atomic particles leave the nucleus. Transformation does not take place for gamma radiation emissions as only photons, not atomic particles leave. Each particle in the decay path will have its own characteristic half-life.Some radioactive substances have mroe than one decay path.
