Robin was the first principal of the newly rebuilt Sunnydale High School when Dawn began her sophomore year. At first Buffy wonders if he may be evil, but Robin offers her a job in the school. During the first part of the season, hints are dropped that Robin is aware of the mystical situation in Sunnydale (like burying Jonathan's body), but the viewer is left without any indication as to which side he fights for.

Around mid-season, it is revealed that Robin's mother Nikki Wood had also been a slayer and that he was a force for good. Later we learn that Robin's mother was killed by Spike in 1977 on a New York subway car, and that Robin wanted to kill Spike as retribution.
