In US politics, the precinct is the smallest breakdown in geographial area. Each precinct has a specific location where the people go to vote. Oftentimes several precincts go to the same location. Political Parties designate Precinct Committee Officers to help them keep track of how the voters in a precinct feel about candidates and issues, and to encourage people to vote.
For law enforcement usage, see police station.
