Dr Philip Purser-Hallard (born Hallard in 1971) is an author and scholar. He gained a doctorate in English literature at Oxford University, during which time he was a prominent member of the Douglas Adams Society and a student comedy troupe called Cruel and Unusual Punishment. His published works include:- Of the City of the Saved... a science fiction novel, published in March 2004.
- Various entries in The Book of the War (2002), a science fiction anthology in encyclopedia form.
- ‘Scapegoat’, a fantasy short story in Emerge (2003), an anthology of poetry, prose and drama.
- ‘Sex Secrets of the Robot Replicants’, a short story in the science fiction anthology A Life Worth Living (2004).
- ‘"Cybernetic godhead": the relationship between creator and creative in the science fiction of William Gibson’, an academic paper in the journal ManuScript.
