Grandson of Queen Elizabeth II

Peter Mark Andrew Phillips (born November 15, 1977) is a member of the British Royal Family, the eldest grandson of Queen Elizabeth II. Peter is the first grandson of a British monarch not to hold a title. He is tenth in the line of the succession to the British throne.

1 Birth

Peter Phillips was born on November 15, 1977 at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington in West London. His father is Mark Phillips, a former Captain in the Queen's Dragoon Guards. His mother is Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, Princess Royal, the only daughter of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

On his birth, the Queen offered to create Peter a Prince, but was refused by Peter's mother, Princess Anne, who wished her children not to have a royal title. As Peter's father had already refused a peerage from the Queen upon his marriage to Princess Anne, Peter did not have any title at birth.

2 Education

Peter attended Gordonstoun school in Scotland, where his grandfather Prince Phillip attended. A keen sportsman, he earned a cap for the Scotland rugby team. He was also head boy at Gordonstoun.
