Major causes of peripheral neuropathy include seizures, diabetes, nutritional deficiencies, and HIV with diabetes being the most likely cause of Peripheral Neuropathy. Also mechanical pressure from staying in one position for too long, a tumor, intraneural hemorrhage , exposing the body to extreme conditions such as radiation, cold temperatures, and/or toxic substances can also cause peripheral neuropathy.
Symptoms include extreme pain to the affected area followed by numbness, and eventually complete lack of control of the affected area. Most peripheral neuropathies last from several hours to a week. Any symptoms lasting longer then that should be treated by a professional as soon as possible.
