The term Parallel has a number of important meanings:- Parallel (geometry) occurs in geometry. If two lines or planes are parallel, then every point on one is located exactly the same minimum distance from the other line or plane.
- A parallel is a circle of latitude.
- Parallel computing is the simultaneous execution of the same task (split up and specially adapted) on multiple processors in order to obtain faster results.
- In electronics, components are said to be "in parallel" if current branches to flow through both simultaneously, as against "in series" where the current flows through first one, then the other, along a single path.
- A data link or port is said to be parallel if bits are transmitted simultaneously on separate wires, as opposed to serial if bits are transmitted consecutively on a single wire. See serial communications.

- Parallel postulateIn geometry, the parallel postulate also called Euclid's fifth postulate since it is the fifth postulate in Euclid's Elements, is a distinctive axiom in what is now called Euclidean geometry. It states: If a line segment intersects two straight lines form
- Parallel programmingParallel programming (also concurrent programming), is a computer programming technique that provides for the execution of operations concurrently, either within a single computer, or across a number of systems. In the latter case, the term distributed co
- Parallel transportIn mathematics, a parallel transport on a manifold M with specified connection is a way to transport vectors along smooth curves, in such a way that they stay "parallel" with respect to the given connection. A field on a smooth curve is called parallel if
- Parallel universeA parallel universe also sometimes called an alternate universe, is a hypothetical universe which exists separately from our own. Some theories of physics postulate the existence of many parallel universes, possibly even an infinite number. Depending on t
- Parallel studyThis is a type of clinical study where two groups of treatments, A and B, are given so that one group only recieves A while another group only recieves B. This is unlike a crossover study where at first one group recieves treatment A and later followed by
- Parallel trench es in siege warfare are the trenches dug by besiegers in a generally parallel direction to the front of a stronghold chosen for attack.
- Parallel highway s, for example, U.S. Highway 60US 60 is an east-west United States highway. Despite the "0" in its number, the 1926 route ended Missouri at the intersection with Route 66. In fact, Route 66 was almost given the US 60 destination, which would have made it more difficult for Bobby Troup parallels Interstate 64Interstate 64 is an interstate highway in the eastern United States. Its western terminus is just west of an interchange with Missouri Highway K in St. Charles County, Missouri; its eastern terminus is at an intersection with Interstate 264 and Interstate in places
