PROBOT ( portmanteau: probe + robot) is a side project band masterminded by Foo Fighters singer/guitarist Dave Grohl (ex- Nirvana drummer). On the album he fulfilled his dream of teaming up with vocalists from old school metal bands who influenced his musical tastes while he was growing up.

Similar to 1995's Foo Fighters, Grohl wrote all of the music and performed about 99% of the instrumentation. Additional lead guitar work on the album is performed by Kim Thayil (ex- Soundgarden guitarist).

Each track on the album features a different lead singer including Lemmy Kilmister, Max Cavalera and King Diamond. Some of the singers who contributed to the album did not in fact actually work directly with Grohl, rather the tapes were shipped from studio to studio until the album was finished.

The video for the lead single off the album, "Shake Your Blood", features an appearance by 66 women from the Suicide Girls adult entertainment website.
