Overton is a village located in Dawson County, Nebraska. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 646.

1 Geography

Overton is located at 40°44'22" North, 99°32'14" West (40.739556, -99.537358) 1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.4 km˛ (0.5 mi˛). 1.4 km˛ (0.5 mi˛) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

2 Demographics

As of the census 2 of 2000, there are 646 people, 254 households, and 175 families residing in the village. The population density is 461.9/km˛ (1,186.8/mi˛). There are 291 housing units at an average density of 208.1/km˛ (534.6/mi˛). The racial makeup of the village is 92.72% White, 0.31% African American, 0.46% Native American, 0.15% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 5.42% from other races, and 0.93% from two or more races. 9.13% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 254 households out of which 33.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.7% are married couplesMarriage is a relationship that plays a key role in the definition of many families.
