The Orange Line of the Washington Metro consists of 26 subway stations from Vienna/Fairfax-GMU to New Carrollton. It has stations in Fairfax County and Arlington, Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Prince George's County, Maryland. Half of the line's stations are shared with the Blue Line.

1 History

Service on the Orange Line began on November 20, 1978 between National Airport and New Carrollton, with five new stations being added to the existing network from Stadium-Armory. There are plans to extend it by another 24 miles and about nine stations from West Falls Church-VT/UVAWest Falls Church-VT/UVA is a Washington Metro station in Fairfax County, Virginia on the Orange Line. The station serves the suburban community of Falls Church, Virginia and the Northern Virginia campuses of Virginia Tech and the University of Virginia,, linking Dulles International Airport and Loudoun County, VirginiaLoudoun County Virginia is part of the Washington-Baltimore Metropolitan Area. As of July 2003, the county is estimated to be home to 221,741 people, a 31 percent increase over the 2000 figure of 169,599. That increase makes the county the fastest growing to the system.
