Omar Infante (born December 26, 1981) is a Major League Baseball shortstop/ second baseman and right-handed batter who plays for the Detroit Tigers.

Infante (in-fahn-TAY) was born in Puerto La Cruz, Anzoátegui State, Venezuela. He was signed by Detroit as an amateur free agent in 1999 and made his debut in 2002.

In three seasons with the Tigers, Infante has batted .259 (206-for-796) with 17 home runs, 69 RBI, 97 runs, 36 doubles, 10 triplesBaseball statistics In baseball, a triple is the act of a batter safely reaching third base by striking the ball and getting to third before being made out, without the benefit of a fielder's misplay (see error) or another runner being put out on a fielde, and 19 stolen bases in 229 games played.
