Noranda is a mining and metallurgy company originally from Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, Canada. It was founded in 1922 as Noranda Mines to exploit Horne Mine. Extraction of copper began on 17 December 1927 and was supposed to last only for three years, but additionnal reserves were fastly discovered. Nowadays Noranda head office is located in Toronto and the companies has operations in 18 countries.
