New Cumberland is a borough located in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 7,349.

1 Geography

New Cumberland is located at 40°13'45" North, 76°52'26" West (40.229140, -76.873992) 1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 4.3 km˛ (1.7 mi˛). 4.3 km˛ (1.7 mi˛) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

2 Demographics

As of the census 2 of 2000, there are 7,349 people, 3,301 households, and 2,016 families residing in the borough. The population density is 1,699.1/km˛ (4,389.7/mi˛). There are 3,417 housing units at an average density of 790.0/km˛ (2,041.0/mi˛). The racial makeup of the borough is 97.20% White, 0.64% African American, 0.10% Native American, 0.72% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.41% from other races, and 0.88% from two or more races. 1.13% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 3,301 households out of which 25.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.0% are married couplesMarriage is a relationship that plays a key role in the definition of many families.
