The Municipality of Kogarah is a Local Government Area of Sydney, Australia, 15 kilometres south of the central business district (CBD). It is part of the St.George region which contains the Hurstville, Kogarah, and Rockdale municipalities. It was established in 1885 and is bounded by the Illawarra railway line, Georges River, Rocky Point Road, Princes Highway and Harrow Road. Parts of the suburbs of Kogarah, Carlton , Allawah , Oatley and Blakehurst , among others, fall within its boundaries. The St. George Hospital, one of Southern Sydney's major hospitals, is in Kogarah.
