Moline is one of the Quad Cities, along with neighboring Rock Island and the Iowa cities of Davenport and Bettendorf. The corporate headquarters of John Deere and the Quad City International Airport are located here.

As of the census 2 of 2000, there are 43,768 people, 18,492 households, and 11,594 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,083.3/km² (2,805.7/mi²). There are 19,487 housing units at an average density of 482.3/km² (1,249.2/mi²).
