Home > Mmm, Mmm, Mmm, Mmm

Mmm, Mmm, Mmm, Mmm was the biggest hit song of the Canadian pop band Crash Test Dummies, from their 1993 album God Shuffled His Feet.

For a song that hit #4 on the American Billboard Hot 100, the lyrics could be considered remarkably dark. Each verse described the isolation and suffering of a child who was inexplicably abnormal -- a boy whose hair prematurely whitened from shock, a girl covered in birthmarks, and a boy whose family belonged to a religous sect, possibly the Shakers. The vocalist sung in an almost impossibly deep voice that made the song instantly catchy. Its creepy video, which set the song's lyrics as the script for a series of one-act plays performed by schoolchildren.

Weird Al parodied the song with Headline News, complete with a parody video.

The American music channel VH1 and Blender magazine listed Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm among the Worst Pop Songs of All Time.
