As of the census ² of 2000, there are 45,408 people, 13,766 households, and 11,384 families residing in the city. The population density is 726.6/km² (1,881.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 77.63% White, 0.37% African American, 0.38% Native American, 0.63% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 18.64% from other races, and 2.34% from two or more races. 81.03% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
