In the Cabinet of Canada, The Minister of Health is responsible for overseeing the federal government's health department ( Health Canada) and enforcing the Canada Health Act, the law governing Medicare. The current Minister of Health is Ujjal Dosanjh.

From its establishment in 1944 to 1996, the post was known as the Minister of National Health and Welfare.

Notable health ministers of the past include Judy LaMarsh, Paul Martin, Sr., Monique Bégin, Jake Epp and Allan Rock.
