:The title given to this article is incorrect due to technical limitations . The correct title is Mikolaj Potocki. Mikolaj Potocki, ( 1595- 20th November 1651) was a noble ( szlachcic), magnate and Field Crown Hetman of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth from 1637 to 1646, Great Crown Hetman from 1646 to 1651, voivode of Braclawice from 1636, from 1646 castellanA castellan was the governor or caretaker of a castle or keep. The role was often part way between that of a majordomo and that of a military administrator — while a castellan was responsible for the work of a castle's domestic staff, as a majordomo was, of Cracow.

Son of Jakub Potocki , father of Stefan Potocki and Dominik Potocki .

Captured during the battle of CecoraBattle of Cecora was battle between Polish and Ottoman's forces ( Turks and Tatars) on 21/22 September or 7th October 1620 (there are conflicting records) in Moldova near Prut river. Hetmans Zolkiewski and Stanislaw Koniecpolski lead the army to Cecora to by Turks. In 1633 during the battle of Paniowce , along with Jeremi Wisniowiecki and Stanislaw Koniecpolski defeated the Turk forces under Abaza pasza .

In 1637 defeated rebelious Cossacks under Pawluk at the battle of Kumejki and in 1638 forced Dymitr Hunia to surrender. After those victories over Cossacks he recievied large estates on Ukraine ( Kresy).

During the Sejm of 1646 he opposed plan of the king Wladyslaw IV Waza to wage war against the Turks.

He was known to be very opressive to peasantry and Cossacks. His behaviour was one of the causes of the Bohdan Khmelnytsky rebellion. In 1648 he disregarded monrach's orders and attacked rebellious Cossacks on Ukraine. He was defeated during battle of Zólte Wody and battle of Korsun and captured by Tatars years. In April 1650 released from jasyr , during 28-30 June he was victorious over Tatar and Cossack forces at the battle of Beresteczko.

On 18 September of 1651, after the indecisive battle of Biala Cerkwia he negotiated a treaty with the Cossacks.

Died on 20th November 1651.
