Meridian Broadcasting is the ITV broadcaster for the south of England: its broadcasts can be received by around five and a half million viewers from Dorset in the west to Reading in the north to Essex in the east. As of 2004, it is based in Southampton, in the studios built by its predecessor (once removed) Southern Television. It plans to move its headquarters to Whiteley by the end of the year.

Meridian started broadcasting on January 1 1993 after it won the franchise from TVS. The station was owned by United News and Media until it was sold to Granada, which then merged to become ITV plc. Along with all other ITV plc companies, the station has lost its unique identity since 2002, becoming branded as "ITV1 Meridian". The Meridian logo can still be seen on regional weather forecasts.
