Melton South ( Postcode: 3338) is a locality within Melton township. It is defined as the area of Melton that is south of the Western Freeway and incorporates the area north of Coburns Road; the housing estates of Brookfield and Brookfield Acres. The Melton Train Station is located within Melton South. This is the major form of public transport connecting the town to the community.

Melton South has two shopping districts: one located on Exford Road; the other on Station Road. The centre on Station Road contains a supermarket ( BI-LO), chemist, video store and a range of fresh food providers.

There are a number of parks in Melton South including Blackwood Drive Reserve, Melton South Oval, and Mt. Carburry . There is also currently a CFA station located there.

The area is home to a number of primary schools as well as Staughton College , and it also contains the residences of the Melton Campus of Victoria University.
