Martinsburg is located at 39°27'33" North, 77°58'4" West (39.459207, -77.967814) ¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 13.1 km² (5.1 mi²). 13.0 km² (5.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.40% water.

2 Demographics

As of the census ² of 2000, there are 14,972 people, 6,684 households, and 3,689 families residing in the city. The population density is 1,149.2/km² (2,977.4/mi²). There are 7,432 housing units at an average density of 570.5/km² (1,478.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 83.90% White, 11.63% African American, 0.40% Native American, 0.63% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 1.26% from other races, and 2.17% from two or more races. 2.91% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
