Home > Marrickville, New South Wales

Marrickville is an Inner West Local Government Area and suburb of Sydney, Australia. The name was suggested by Thomas Chalder, an early resident, after the village of Marrick in Yorkshire, England. "Ville" was suggested by William Deane.

The area is generally working class and also has a share of students, being relatively close to the University of Sydney. In recent decades Marrickville has received waves of immigrants to Australia. It lies on the Bankstown line of CityRail and under the flight path to Sydney airport.
