Marion County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of 2000, the population is 16,140. The county seat is Yellville.
Marion County was formed on 3 November 1835 and was named after General Francis Marion who fought in the American Revolution.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,658 km˛ (640 mi˛). 1,548 km˛ (598 mi˛) of it is land and 110 km˛ (43 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 6.66% water.
As of the census 2 of 2000, there are 16,140 people, 6,776 households, and 4,871 families residing in the county.
