Lou Thesz, popular name of Aloysius Martin Thesz, b. April 24, 1916 at Banat, Michigan , d. April 28, 2002 at Orlando, Florida

Lou Thesz was a champion wrestler for 58 years. He was born in Michigan but wrestled out of St. Louis where he had moved as a young boy.

Thesz wrestled professionally from 1932 to 1990. During the 1940s and 1950s, it was not uncommon for Thesz to put on 250 exhibitions a year. Thesz was also a champion, he won various world titles seven times and he was unbeaten from 1948 to 1956. He finished his career wrestling a special match in Japan in 1990 at the age of 73.
