Most of South Africa's national parks are maintained by South Africa National Parks (SANPark) while the parks in KwaZulu-Natal are managed by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife (an amalgamation of the former Natal Parks Board and KwaZulu Directorate of Nature Conservation). A number of national parks have become Peace parks and changed their names. Private Parks are starting to have a huge impact on the conservation scene.
- Ai-Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier Park includes the Richtersveld National Park (Northern Cape) and Fish River Canyon Park ( Namibia)
- Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park (see also: Kruger National Park)
- Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park includes the Kalahari Gemsbok Park (Northern Cape) and Gemsbok National Park and Mabuasehube Game Reserve ( Botswana)
- Lubombo Transfrontier Conservation Area includes Tembe Elephant Reserve (KwaZulu-Natal); Maputo Elephant Reserve ( Mozambique) and Lubombo Conservancy ( Swaziland)
- Maloti-Drakensberg Transfrontier Conservation Area includes Golden Gate Highlands National Park, Qwa Qwa Park and Sterkfontein Dam Nature Reserve (Free State); uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park and Royal Natal National Park (KwaZulu-Natal) and Sehlabathebe National Park ( Lesotho)
