Lewis Addison Armistead was a commander in the Confederate States of America. He served with the Army of North Virginia , and was killed at the Battle of Gettysburg while leading in the front line of Pickett's Charge. He was best friends with the Union general Winfield Scott Hancock. Armistead's division in Pickett's Charge was supposed to attack Hancock's. His division was wiped out and himself killed before he could reach the enemy.
