Lesser Slave Lake is a lake located in central Alberta, Canada, northwest of Edmonton. It measures some 60 miles long and 10 miles at its widest point. It drains eastwards into the Athabasca River by way of the Lesser Slave River .

Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Parkoffers camping facilities for one of the largest lakes in Alberta. Kilometers of sand beaches and excellent fishing are major attractions

As well as providing year round habitat for numerous song birds, Lesser Slave Lake (and the boreal forest surrounding it) is located on a major fly way for migrating birds. Particularly impressive are the populations of eagles and pelicans that reside in the area during times of open water. The Lesser Slave Lake Bird Observatoryprovides a wealth of information and research for the casual or the serious bird watcher.
