Every night King interviews one or more prominent newsmakers, commonly a celebrity or a politician. The show is one hour long and is rebroadcasted three times a day.
In an interview on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, King said that the secret to a good interview is to get the guest to talk about himself or herself and to put oneself in the background.
It has been alleged that because Larry King asks "soft" questions, he obtains guests for his show that would not otherwise appear on a television talk show, such as The O'Reilly Factor.
King also accepts call-in questions from viewers, including a mysterious frequent caller from Ellijay, Georgia.
