Voorhies once dated actor Martin Lawrence, and she came close to marrying him. However, she ended up marrying another actor, Miguel Coleman . Voorhies also is a musician who plays the violin, cello and piano.

She had small parts on soap operas such as Days of Our Lives and The Bold and the Beautiful, but quit both when she realized that she would eventually have to do sex scenes, and these clashed with her religious beliefs.
