2 Demographics

As of the census ² of 2001, there are 62,495 people, 23,905 households, and 18,090 families residing in the county. The population density is 21/km² (54/mi²). There are 27,781 housing units. The racial makeup of the county is 99.21% non-visible minority (including self-reported Aboriginals), 0.00% Black, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% from other minority groups, and 0.00% from two or more minority groups. 0.01% of the entire county population identify themselves as Aboriginal.

While the town of Smiths FallsSmiths Falls ( 2001 population 9,977) is a town on the Rideau Canal in Ontario, Canada. It is in the census division for Lanark County, but is no longer associated with that county. The town was founded in 1823 on land owned by United Empire Loyalist Thom is physically within the boundaries of the county, it is a separated municipality and is not under the administration of the county government.
