A Koopa Kid (also known as a Koopaling) is a character from the Mario Brothers series of video games. As far as it is known there eight Koopa Kids - all the children of King Bowser Koopa. Their origin(Mother) is never revealed. The first seven originally appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3. They also appeared in Super Mario World, Yoshi's Safari, and Mario Is Missing! Recently, they appeared in . They are always bosses of levels.

The Koopa Kids have wild punk hairstyles and dress. It is said that each Koopaling was personally designed by a different member of the production staff of SMB3.

'[The Koopa kids] were modeled after the design team of that game [Super Mario Bros 3]. This is another (sic) way we give recognition to the many people who help make the games successful.'

All of the first seven Koopa children are named after celebrities. They are:

• Ludwig Von Koopa is the oldest. In the cartoon series he was named Kooky. He was named after (and resembles) Ludwig van Beethoven. He first appeared in Super Mario Bros 3 as the boss of World 7.
• Lemmy Koopa is the second oldest. In the cartoons he was named Hip. He was named for Lemmy Kilmister. Lemmy has lazy eye and balances atop a ball.
• Roy Koopa is the third oldest. In the cartoons he was named Bully. He was named after Roy Orbison, and both he and Orbison wear trademark dark sunglasses.
• Iggy Koopa is the fourth oldest. He is bespectacled and blue. In the cartoons, he was called Hop (Lemmy, his brother, was named Hip, a play on hip-hop). He is named after Iggy PopIggy Pop (born James Newell Osterberg is an American singer, famous as the frontman of The Stooges and as a solo artist. He was born on April 21, 1947 in Muskegon, Michigan. • Wendy O. Koopa is the third-youngest. In the cartoons she was named Kootie Pie. She is the only female Koopa Kid. She was named after Wendy O. Williams.
• Morton Koopa Junior is the second-youngest. In the cartoons he was named Big Mouth. He is named after Morton Downey, Jr.Morton Downey, Jr. December 9, 1933 March 12, 2001) was a controversial television talk show host of the 1980s. His parents were also in show business; his father Morton Downey was a popular singer, and his mother Barbara Bennett was a singer and dancer. and appears to be modeled after Paul StanleyStanley Harvey Eisen (born January 20, 1952) aka Paul Stanley is best known as the rhythm guitarist for the rock band KISS. Stanley formed the rock band Wicked Lester in the early 1970s with Gene Klein, who later became Gene Simmons in KISS. Wicked Lester of KISSKISS is a New York City-based heavy metal band that became famous in the mid- to late 1970s. Although "Heavy Metal" didn't exist when the band was formed in 1972 you can say that they invented a big part of the sound and style which now belong to Heavy Me.
• Larry Koopa is the youngest. In the cartoons he was named Cheatsy. He was named after Larry KingLarry King (born Lawrence Harvey Zeigler November 19, 1933) is an award winning broadcaster. In Super Mario Sunshine and the Mario Party series (and Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story, though this is arguable), Bowser had an eighth child named Bowser Junior.
