Town on Labe river in eastern Bohemia, Czech Republic, with 30,000 inhabitants. Founded by king Wenceslas I in 13th century under name Colonia nova (New Colony). Between 1475- 1488, Hynek z Podebrad , renaissance writer and son of King George I, lived in Kolin Castle.
