Kakar is the largest Pashtun tribe in Afghanistan and in Pakistan. Kakar was one of the grandsons of Qais Abdur Rashid , meaning that Kakar was a son of Dani , son of Ghorghushet , son of Qais in the Afhgan appendix of tribes. Kakar had 26 sons (some historians believe he had 29), who broke up into 26 sub-tribes, such as the Churmaikhel , Taraghzai , Sonzarkhel , Musaakhel , Jadoon (Gadoon) and the Abubakarzai (Sanatia). The Kakar tribe is geographically widespread, being present in most provinces of Afghanistan, the northern part of Balochistan , Pakistan and in India. In Hyderabad, the family of nawabs belonged to the Kakar tribe. The famous Muslim warrior Sher Shah Suri, who ruled in India, was a Barakzai Kakar, which is a sub-tribe of the Taraghzai Kakar. In India, some Kakar tribespeople have converted to Hinduism, but many remain Muslims. By AHMAD YAR KHAN KAKAR
