Home > Joe Mauer
Joseph Patrick Mauer is a catcher for the Minnesota Twins. A graduate of Cretin Durham Hall , he was drafted in 2001 in the first round of the major league baseball draft. He hit the big league spotlight in 2004, after his predecessor, A.J. Pierzynski was traded to the San Francisco Giants in the 2003 off-season and he was promoted to the major league roster soon after. Mauer injured his left knee on April 6, which required surgery. After playing in the minor leagues to rehabiliate his knee, he returned to the Twins in June. In July, pain and swelling in his left knee caused Mauer to not play the rest of the season.
