Jésus de Montréal is a 1989 film by Quebec film director Denys Arcand. The film revolves around a group of actors in Montreal hired to present a passion play. However, the actors choose to present an unconventional interpretation of the life of Jesus. As the passion play becomes more controversial, the actors' lives begin to mirror the Passion itself.
Although a deeply spiritual film, the film's unconventional and critical take on Christianity and the life of Jesus is very different from that of Mel Gibson's more recent The Passion of the Christ.
