Jerri Nielsen (1952) is an American medical doctor and author of the nonfiction

autobiographical book Ice Bound , which relates the story of her contracting breast cancer while serving at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station during the winter of 1999. She had to rely on self-administered chemotherapy using supplies from a daring July cargo drop, then was picked up in an equally dangerous mid-October landing.
