Jerome Napoleon Bonaparte II ( November 5, 1830 - September 3, 1893) was a son of Jerome Napoleon Bonaparte and Susan May Williams.He studied at West Point and served in Texas with the Mounted Rifles. His letters from Fort Inge and Fort Ewell have been preserved by the Maryland Historical Society.
He resigned from the US Army to serve in the army of his first cousin, Napoleon III of France. He fought in Algiers, the Italian campaign, the Crimean War, and the Franco-Prussian War. In 1854 he was made a colonel.
