Dr. Jeffrey Wigand was vice-president of research and development of Brown & Williamson, and became known as a whistleblower who exposed the practices of his company of knowingly increasing the potency of cigarettes.

He became known as a whistleblower when he was interviewed by CBS news magazine 60 Minutes.

Wigand claimed that he was subsequently harrassed and received anonymous threats on his life, though this was never substantiated.

He was portrayed in the movie The Insider by Russell Crowe.
