In 1994 he co-wrote with John Rice and Joe Batteer the film Blown Away starring Jeff Bridges and Tommy Lee Jones.

He is currently producing a movie based on Douglas Adams's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy novels.

He is married to Susanna HoffsSusanna Hoffs was a vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the Bangles. Although the band did not have a set lead vocalist, Susanna was perceived by casual fans to be "the singer" of the Bangles after "Walk Like an Egyptian" hit #1. The problem was compounded, of Bangles fame.
