Izard County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. As of 2000, the population is 13,249. The county seat is Melbourne.
Izard County was formed on 27 October 1825 and is named for War of 1812 General and Arkansas Territorial Governor George Izard.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,513 km˛ (584 mi˛). 1,504 km˛ (581 mi˛) of it is land and 9 km˛ (3 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 0.57% water.
As of the census 2 of 2000, there are 13,249 people, 5,440 households, and 3,769 families residing in the county.
