Born Isabelle Yasmine Adjani in Gennevilliers, Hauts-de-Seine, France, she is the daughter of an Algerian- Turkish father and a German mother.
One of her country's best known actresses, and recognized worldwide, at a young age Isabelle Adjani was drawn to acting, playing in amateur theater by the age of twelve. As a fourteen-year-old, she appeared in her first motion picture.
