Home > Irregular Webcomic!
Irregular Webcomic! is created by David Morgan-Mar, an Australian scientist. The comic is illustrated primarily with Lego blocks toy people.Irregular Webcomic updates every single day (ironically one of the most regular webcomics out there), but has several different 'themes', which usually live in their own little universes (besides the hilarious crossovers).
The Themes;
- Cliffhangers: An Indiana Jones style adventure story, but with Montana 'Monty' Jones instead. Battling Nazis and collecting artifacts is his job!
- Pirates: Pirates. Well what do you expect?
- Shakespeare: What would Shakespeare do if he were alive tody? Work in advertising apparently. With sidelines in Harry Potter fanfics and Nigerian internet moneymaking. Naturally.
- Espionage: A scene by scene re-telling of the Bond film, Dr.No, but in Lego. And a webcomic. Also more jokes.
- Space: Science fiction themed strips here. They spend some of their time in a CG environment (here they appear as Lego minifigs, instead of the normal painted figurines), and some on their ship. The ship's computer steals idle computer power from the past. This gives them massive processor power, but brings a whole new meaning to the Blue screen of death when life support is dependant on it.
- Fantasy: Here, the figurines embody the players in a role playing gamewith the creator of the comic himslf playing the Games Master. They were set a quest several weeks ago, but have yet to even get started.
- Star Wars: Basicaly allows the author to put words in the mouths of Star Wars characters. This lets him point out ome of the problems and idiosyncracies in the Star Wars universe (i.e. "Coruscant cannot exist! Take it from a physics professor" being a short running theme).
- Harry Potter: Same as with the Star Wars theme, lets you see another side to Harry Potter.
- Steve and Terry: Steve Irwin-alike and his wife make documentaries, wrestle crocs, and fight ungodly beasts from the beyond. Crikey!
- Martians: Martians. On Mars. Mainly like to make fun of earthlings.
- Supers: Specially drawn comics which only crop up occasionaly, but that doesn't stop them being some of the most detailed, crazy takes on Superhero comics.
- Nigerian Finance Minister: Ever wonder who writes those annoying scam e-mails? Well it turns out it really was the Nigerian Finance Minister. How is he supposed to get any work done when nobody answers his e-mails?
- Miscellaneous: Either featuring the author himself or some dinosaurs. Yes. In the run up to the November 2004 US election there was a series of strips of " Allosaurus for president". Born in Montana!
DEATH: The connecting thread of all the other themes. The basic theory is that there is one grim reaper (called a Death) for every kind of death there is. Not confusing at all. For exapmle if somebody dies by being sat on by a giant frog, in comes 'Death of being sat on by a giant frog'. Head Death controls all other Deaths, and promotes and demotes as he sees fit.
The main Death of the comic was originaly 'Death of insaneley overpowered fireballs', then demoted to 'sat on by a giant frog', then fired and worked for the Nigerian Finance Ministry for a while, then rehired as 'insaneley overpowered fireballs', and is currently 'Living For Over 900 Years'.
Deaths have appeared to 'collect' in all other themes in the Comic at one time or another.
There are often oddly themed cross-overs in the comic, like Steve Irwin being fired by Professor Dumbledore at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
